Good Friday Pilgrimage for Peace

Each year, Benedictines for Peace organizes a Good Friday Pilgrimage for Peace. The 2026 date is April 3rd. It begins outside of St. Peter Cathedral (Tenth and Sassafras) at 11:00 AM. Racism is the focus of this year’s contemporary Stations of the Cross. We will walk through the city of Erie, stopping to pray at places that connect us to or remind us of the reality of racism and the suffering it continues to cause. Between stops, participants walk in silence. A chartered bus will be available for those who choose to ride for all or any part of the pilgrimage, departing from Mount St. Benedict (6101 E Lake Road) at 10:30 AM. Before returning to Mount St. Benedict at the end of the pilgrimage, the bus will stop at St. Peter Cathedral to drop off participants who parked there. Upon returning to the Mount, a simple soup lunch will be served. We will eat in silence. The final stop of the Stations is included in the 3:00 PM Good Friday service at the monastery.
